Why I have chosen the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg as my head photo
This Museum is one of my favourite museums! There, you can find mostly art from the time of the Russian Empire. I chose this museum because of two reasons: At first, many of the works are just brilliant and nice to watch. I specially like the paintings of Ilya Repin, a painter of the late 19th and early 20th century. But the second and more important reason is that the Russian Museum symbolizes for me the duality of Russia generally and of St. Petersburg specially. On the one hand, this museum and its works of art are deeply rooted in the European history and art history. On the other hand, Russia has always been a transit region between cultures and ideas from Europe and Asia.
Below, you can watch some paintings of Ilya Repin.
